Reporting to the Division Chief and working in close collaboration with the Vice Chair of Education, the Program Director will provide strategic and operational leadership for all aspects of the fellowship. This includes advancing clinical excellence, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a rigorous and supportive learning environment. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of endocrinology education at UK, while cultivating academic growth and meeting the evolving needs of both the institution and the broader community.

The selected individual will be a recognized academic leader with a proven track record of excellence in clinical care, research, clinical education, and mentorship.

Strong leadership abilities as a compassionate listener, strategic decision-maker, and an effective collaborator are essential. The candidate should demonstrate integrity, foster trust among colleagues, and possess excellent communication skills. Prior administrative experience in an academic medical center setting is preferred.

Key Responsibilities
In collaboration with the Division Chief and Vice Chair of Education, the Endocrinology Fellowship Program Director will have responsibility, authority, and accountability for: program administration and operations; teaching and scholarly activity; fellow recruitment and selection, evaluation, and promotion of fellows, and disciplinary action; supervision of fellows; and fellow education in the context of patient care. The role will be provided 20% FTE of non-clinical time.

  • Design, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive curriculum aligned with ACGME competencies and institutional priorities.
  • Recruit, select, and mentor fellows; oversee evaluation, promotion, and, when necessary, disciplinary actions in accordance with institutional policy and in the context of high-quality patient care.
  • Maintain a dynamic, supportive learning environment that fosters professionalism and psychological safety—encouraging open feedback and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure full compliance with ACGME and institutional requirements, including documentation, program updates, and reporting obligations.
  • Collaborate with Division, Department, and institutional leadership to secure necessary faculty, administrative, and infrastructure support for the program.
  • Serve as a visible role model of clinical excellence, teaching, and professionalism within the Division and broader medical community.
  • Participate in clinical instruction of students, residents, and fellows in both ambulatory and inpatient settings.
  • Lead or contribute to fellow didactics, seminars, case conferences, and other structured educational activities.
  • Support the Division’s academic mission by facilitating scholarly activity and clinical research among trainees and faculty.
  • Represent the University of Kentucky and UK HealthCare as an active member of the medical staff, participating in medical staff affairs, quality initiatives, and upholding evidence-based practice standards.
  • Build and sustain relationships with alumni, external organizations, and professional societies to enhance the program’s visibility, reputation, and long-term growth.
  • Serve on appropriate Division, Department, University, Hospital, and College committees as assigned by the Division Chief.

To be considered for the position, interested applicants must apply to this University of Kentucky position posting and also submit a CV and Letter of Interest addressed to the Search Committee to Amber Gornik, Managing Associate, at Korn Ferry at Amber.Gornik@kornferry.com.
