About Buffalo, NY
Buffalo is the second-largest city in New York State and is located in the western region on the shores of Lake Erie, upriver of the majestic Niagara Falls. Buffalo - the City of Good Neighbors - is a big city with a rapidly growing economy, vital academic health sciences center, outstanding public schools, and modest cost of living. Buffalo’s rich cultural resources reflect its distinguished history and commitment to sustaining the arts, including the Grammy Award-winning Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra; the world class collection of modern paintings and sculptures at the Albright-Knox Art gallery; an extensive array of historic architectural treasures designed by Frank Lloyd Wright; an expansive park system; and a variety of summer festivals. The city is home to the state’s largest concentration of theaters outside of New York City. From the Michigan Street Baptist Church to the Underground Railroad to jazz history at the Colored Musicians Club and museum, Buffalo has a rich African-American heritage to explore. Buffalo is close to two significant wine growing regions-Niagara Escarpment and the Finger Lakes region, and was named one of the Top 10 Food Cities by National Geographic. In addition, the Adirondack Mountains, covering 5,000 square miles, are half-a-day’s drive from Buffalo. Rich in natural resources and beauty, the Buffalo Niagara area is a 4-season region that offers the best for seasonal sports enthusiasts including the NFL’s Buffalo Bills, and the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres. Due to its mild temperatures, abundance of recreational activities, low risk of natural disasters, bountiful fresh water, and clean energy production, Buffalo is a great place to work, study and live - going from “Punchline to Lifeline”.
