Expertise: Dr. Akiyama's research interests lie in implementation science and operations research among socioeconomically marginalized populations with particular emphasis on Hepatitis C and linkage to care in the criminal justice system. With collaborators in the New York City Department of Health & Mental Hygiene and Health & Hospitals Corporation, he has been assisting to characterize the HCV care cascade within and post-release from the New York City jail system.
