My research is focused on clinical trials and outcome studies involving critically ill patients. Patients are recruited from adult intensive care units for specific clinical trials by dedicated research nurses. Current trials underway include novel methods of mechanical ventilation in patients with ARDs, antiflammatory and cytokine-modulating pharmacotherapies for ARDS and sepsis, use of tissue-factor pathway inhibitor in septic shock, nitric oxide inhibition in septic shock, and anti-inflammatory therapies of severe acute pancreatitis.
