Jonathan Evans is a speciality training registrar in Trauma & Orthopaedics on the South West (Peninsula) rotation. In 2016 he was awarded the joint National Joint Registry and Royal College of Surgeons of England (NJR/RCS(Eng)) research fellowship, to support him in 2 years of full-time research at the University of Bristol. He is looking at the long-term survival of hip prostheses and aiming to create a benchmark for the all-cause construct survival of hip replacements, based upon the long-term data held by the Exeter hip team and the NJR.
His recent work has focussed around extensive literature reviews and meta-analyses looking at the long-term survival of hip and knee prostheses. Both of these papers have recently been published in The Lancet. He is also using NJR data to see if Exeter V40 hip replacements implanted in the originator centre have a different survival pattern to those implanted elsewhere in the UK.
