Expertise: Dr. Shand is an early career physician-scientist studying how and why acute lymphoblastic leukemia cells produce "danger signals" that promote their own survival and tolerize the immune microenvironment. She is specifically interested in designing novel immunotherapies that manipulate how these signals are received in the bone marrow to eliminate minimal residual disease and prevent relapse.
