Research interests involve the application of clinical neurophysiologic techniques to psychiatric and neurologic conditions and disorders. The specific techniques most commonly used are polysomnography, electroencephalography (both routine and quantitative) and evoked potentials. The disorders of current interest include sleep disorders, cognitive disorders, demyelinating disorders and intraoperative neuropathological sequelae. Active ongoing research in the sleep area includes studies of insomniac and narcoleptic patients. Both traditional and ambulatory recording techniques have been developed to provide objective quantification of severity and treatment response. In addition to standard phase 2-4 clinical trials of investigational agents, various behavioral treatments are being assessed for short and long term efficacy.
