My academic interests are focused on pediatric health services and outcomes research. My research and graduate studies provided me with a strong background in clinical and translational research. I hope to focus on evaluating our outcomes and practice patterns to ensure we are providing the most effective care for our patients, and to develop strategies to increase care quality and effectiveness.
I joined the University of Utah, Division of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery in 2012. I am board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. My clinical interests are focused on caring for all patients, from neonates to adults, with congenital heart defects. I have a special interest in pediatric heart failure, transplantation and mechanical circulatory support. Technologically, it is a very exciting time because we are developing smaller and more efficient assist devices for children with end-stage heart disease. I think that we have a unique opportunity here at Utah to positively impact the quality of many children's lives who are suffering from heart disease.
