Position Summary
This position will serve as a post-doctoral researcher at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. The incumbent will design and perform experiments, and record and interpret results. The goal of these experiments is to understand the mechanisms by which pathogenic strains of Klebsiella pneumoniae or Acinetobacter baumannii cause disease. Results from these studies will be used to identify and assess potential drug targets and/or vaccine candidates. Techniques used will include but are not limited to: growth and maintenance of bacterial strains, determining bacterial titers, animal model work, ELISA assays, protein and carbohydrate purification, and molecular techniques for creating mutants. Permanent residence or US citizenship is preferred. The postdoctoral associate will be provided opportunities and support for independent grant writing and career development.

Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must have an MD, PhD, MD/PhD or DVM degree with a focus in bacteriology or microbiology
