The opportunity
This position is responsible for enhancing research around the economics of chronic disease within the Area of Strategic Investment (ASI) in Griffith University, leading a health economics research agenda to inform service planning and to improve patient outcomes, experiences and access to allied health services in the Metro North Hospital and Health Service (MNHHS).

This position is designed for the incumbent to provide high level expertise and support to staff in undertaking pragmatic clinical trials and implementation trials, measuring health, health service and economic outcomes applied to chronic disease and allied health. This position is well positioned to undertake the evaluation of clinical trials, including input into the design of clinical trials, developing key outcome measures, and the evaluation of the trials. Translating research outcomes to policy and practice will be an important component of the role, therefore, the incumbent will have a comprehensive understanding of the Australian health care system. There is scope to extend the role into areas such as priority setting using techniques including multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA), preference elicitation techniques such as discrete choice experiments, or other techniques such as the expected value of perfect information (EVPI) which may be a useful approach for determining the feasibility and sample size of such trials.

Collaborations across Griffith University and MNHHS are an important aspect of this position particularly in developing research collaborations with allied health staff within MNHHS. Mentoring, providing practical seminars on evaluation methods and contributing to research grant applications and manuscripts are expected. The position is required to undertake occasional administration activities and represent the Centre for Applied Health Economics (CAHE) as required by the Director.

This is a fixed term (5 years), full time position based at the Nathan campus.
