    Position Summary


    The University at Buffalo Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Nephrology Fellowship Program Director.

    In this role you will:



      • Serve as the chief academic, clinical, and administrative leader for the Nephrology Fellowship Program.

      • Ensure the program adheres to all ACGME, American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), institutional, and divisional policies.

      • Develop, implement, and periodically revise the educational curriculum.

      • Lead a transparent, equitable, and effective recruitment process.

      • Oversee formative and summative assessment of fellow performance.

      • Support and monitor faculty involved in fellow education.

      • Maintain an environment of academic inquiry and evidence-based practice.

      • Guarantee that fellows acquire sufficient breadth and depth of clinical exposure.

      • Establish a formal system for annual program review and improvement.

      • Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

      • Oversee program resources to ensure operational and educational adequacy.

      • Represent the fellowship program internally and externally.

      • Create and maintain program-specific policies.

      • Manage all required reporting for accreditation and regulatory compliance.

    Minimum Qualifications



    • MD, DO or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.

    • Board-certified in Nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine or equivalent specialty qualifications acceptable to the Office of Medical Education.

    • Minimum of four years experience as faculty in an accredited internal medicine teaching program.

    • At least three years of documented experience in administration and curriculum design, implementation, or assessment in medical education.

    • Participation in faculty development, particularly in clinical teaching, assessment, or feedback.

    • Experience in delivering both inpatient and outpatient clinical care.

    • Eligible for medical licensure in the State of New York.

    • Current and unrestricted DEA certification.

    • Authorization to lawfully work full-time in the United States.




    Preferred Qualifications



    • Demonstrated leadership experience in medical education administration.

    • Strong background in curricular innovation and educational research.

    • Proven track record of excellence in clinical teaching and mentorship.

    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

    • Familiarity with educational technologies and their integration into nephrology medical curricula.

    • Demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in medical education.

    • Familiarity with competency-based medical education (CBME), and/or the use of learning analytics to inform educational outcomes
