Research Scientist . Dr. Sangita Patels lab,
Department of Ophthalmology at the University at Buffalo, is located at the Buffalo VA Medical Center. Dr. Patels lab studies the physiology of the corneal endothelium, the cell layer that maintains transparency of the cornea. Current projects are focused on studies of the extracellular matrix of the corneal endothelium and responses to cell injury. The Research Scientist is expected to be able to move projects from the idea phase to the bench, including interpretation and presentation of findings, and guiding future areas for investigation.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Establishing new protocols for research ideas Performing and troubleshooting experimental protocols Analyzing and interpreting data and preparing for presentation Preparing reports and publications Human and cow eye dissections Teaching and guiding junior laboratory team members General laboratory maintenance/upkeep activities

Minimum Qualifications
PhD or MD in a relevant science / health science field Excellent organizational, documentation, communication, and teamwork skills Self-motivated and able to work independently Proficient in cell culture techniques and general cell/molecular biology protocols Preferred Qualifications
