  • Division Chief Gastroenterology

    The chief of Pediatric Gastroenterology performs duties at several levels that contribute directly to the UB School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, and Kaleida Health System.
    As the Chief of the department, you will be responsible to perform duties, which include but are not limited to the following:

    • Provide operational, clinical, and academic leadership for division of gastroenterology
    • Lead the effort to rebuild the program
    • Work with UBMD Pediatrics and John R. Oishei Children hospital “OCH” leadership team to build state of art endoscopy suite
    • Serve as Division Chief as well as Medical Director of GI services at OCH and new cutting-edge Pediatric Procedure Unit and Endoscopy suite
    • Enjoy a combination of clinical care and resident and medical student teaching with faculty appointment to the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences “Jacobs School”
    • Practice at our state-of-the-art pediatric specialty outpatient center with inpatient and procedural duties
    • Strong community demand for GI consultation
    • Cultivate and facilitate innovative clinical and QI research
    • Supervise staff in the division to assure that care for children with pediatric intestinal, hepatic and pancreatic problems is integrated, i.e. assures coordination of care provided through primary care providers, home care companies, diagnostic testing performed at Kaleida Health facilities, and care provided directly through members of the division provided at Kaleida Health facilities (including both inpatient and outpatient care). Most patients followed through the division have complex, chronic problems
    • Maintain excellent relationships with Kaleida Health-based home care providers through referrals and prompt processing of all required documentation
    • Assure excellence of all testing services offered through the division
    • Maintain excellence in the division in education and research
    • Maintain community presence through participation in the parent support group for children with motility disorders and inflammatory bowel disease
    • Is available as an advocate to the community for pediatric gastroenterology problems (e.g. to the media when current issues arise)
    • Supervise all quality assurance in the Division, including active surveillance of clinical care activities and division-wide quality improvement
    • Assure that clinical documentation is consistent with HCFA guidelines
    • Prepare all documents necessary for JCAHO reviews
    • Supervise all staff in the division. Performs yearly job evaluations
    • Add value by advancing medical science through clinical research trials
    • Add value by teaching medical students, residents and the community (yearly Grand Rounds)
