CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER (CMO)
Sandoval Regional Medical Center (SRMC) is seeking outstanding applicants for the position of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at it’s facility in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. This is a full time position which will also have a faculty appointment (open rank, open track) at the University of New Mexico (UNM), School of Medicine (SOM) in the candidates department of training. This postion requires .80 FTE administrative time and .20 FTE clinical effort. The CMO works in collaboration with the SRMC CEO, COO/CNO, CFO, School of Medicine Clinical Department Chairs, SRMC Medical Staff, Community Providers and UNM Health System leadership to develop and implement aligned strategic direction, goals and medical policy for SRMC hospital. Ensures high quality physician and advanced practice provider care; and establishes/maintains a safe environment for patients through the development of policies, procedures and processes based on current best practices. Manages fiscal affairs for medical staff services and works collaboratively with the Executive Team and Management to ensure implementation of strategic patient care initiatives and centers of excellence that support the overall goals of the organization. Serves as a point of contact for community health and health care access issues. Serves as a member of the Executive Team and as such, actively participates in the development of long-term organizational goals and strategies. Represents the SRMC medical staff in all SRMC and UNM Health System strategic, operational, planning, and policy activities. This position reports to the UNM SRMC CEO.

Medical Office Building
The Professional Arts Building has more than 40,000 square feet for:
- Primary care and specialty care physician clinic space.
- Outpatient physical therapy.
- Medical education space.
- Hospital cafeteria and dining room.

Candidates must hold an MD, DO, or equivalent degree have demonstrated expertise appropriate for appointment as an Assistant, Associate or Professor in UNM’s School of Medicine. The candidate must have three (3) years of progressive administrative experience in an acute care Community Hospital setting. Candidates must be eligible for Medical Staff membership and active clinical practice in their specialty at UNM SRMC (see above specialties), be eligible for licensure in New Mexico, and must be eligible to work in the United States.
- Advanced business degree(s) such as MBA, MPH, MHA
- Administrative experience in academic and non-academic setting
- Previous practice experience in both academic and non-academic setting
- Board Experience: Hospital, Healthcare or Community Board Experience
- Experience with Lean Concepts, Lean Management , Medical Leadership Training
- Evidence of leadership and experience in managing a complex clinical, research, and educational enterprise
- Demonstrated evidence of financial management, contract negotiation and driving strategic initiatives to successful outcomes
- Strong record of personnel management experience with an emphasis on faculty recruitment, faculty development and mentoring for success
- Experience working with multiple constituencies and a record of advocacy across all department mission areas
- Evidence of commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity
- Exceptional communication skills
Salary is negotiable depending upon qualifications and experience.
