Quality and Accreditation Specialist

This position is accountable for the administrative oversight and coordination of the School of Medicine’s Undergraduate Medical Education quality assurance and quality improvement programs and with matters pertaining to accreditation by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME).

  • Monitors and tracks institutional compliance with LCME accreditation standards, creates long and short-term programmatic goals, highlights compliance issues, and recommends solutions. Continuously researches, collects, and analyzes quantitative and qualitative data to support initiatives. Tracks progress on citations or areas of close monitoring and monitors compliance with LCME standards. Offers solutions, drafts reports, and responses.

  • Works in conjunction with the Dean and senior leadership team to create strategic plans for continuous quality improvement initiatives, taskforce action plans, and the resolution of citations or areas of concern. Creates and maintains timeline schedules for quality improvement initiatives and LCME accreditation cycle.

  • Assists Dean and senior leadership team to create policies and procedures for School of Medicine, students, and programs in conjunction with LCME accreditation standards.

  • Maintains ongoing databases of all relevant LCME accreditation data. Assists with the Academic Policies and Procedures manual for UME with senior leadership. Advises the Dean, faculty, and staff on relevant programmatic requirements for policy and accreditation compliance.

  • Maintains the budget for LCME accreditation, approves expenditures for relevant funds. Works with Administrative Manager to set budgets for the LCME accreditation as needed.

  • Serves as writer and editor of correspondence, reports, and submission materials to the LCME including self-studies, follow-up materials and interim monitoring reports. Coordinates all activities related to submission of materials for LCME accreditation.

  • Organizes logistics of the LCME accreditation site visits. Creates accreditation visit agendas, creates binders of required materials, and gathers all related documents required to be present at site visits.

  • Keeps institutional website updated as to the elements for accreditation.

  • Provides support for other accreditation matters and duties as requested by the Dean.
