The Department of Medicine in The Robert Larner, MD College of Medicine at the University of Vermont (UVM) and the University of Vermont Medical Center (UVMMC) seeks an outstanding physician/scientist with a record of significant contributions in academic endocrinology to serve as Division Chief for Endocrinology. This position will be at the rank of Associate Professor/Professor, Tenure Pathway. Reporting to the Chair of Medicine and working in collaboration with the division chiefs of the Department’s 13 other subspecialties, the new Chief will oversee and further develop the Division’s outstanding clinical service, educational, and research programs.
The Chief will lead a division of nine faculty, two advanced practice providers, and two fellows, all committed to excellence in clinical care. Serving more than one million patients in Vermont and northern New York, this team of dedicated professionals provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary subspecialty care in endocrinology.
Research is an important part of the Division’s work and strong collaborative research opportunities exist with rapidly growing and established programs in Health Services Research, Environmental Pathology, Genomics, Cardiovascular Disease, Thrombosis and Pulmonary Medicine.
Together, the UVM Larner College of Medicine and UVMMC comprise the only tertiary/quaternary academic medical center in Vermont and offer state-of-the-art clinical, research, and educational facilities. UVMMC is part of the University of Vermont Health Network with hospitals in Vermont and Upstate New York.

The ideal candidate will be a physician board certified or eligible in Endocrinology with proven leadership experience and a commitment to clinical care, medical education, fellowship training and research. S/he will be an experienced clinician with an established research program including clinical trials who brings a strong track record for mentoring faculty at all stages of career development. It is expected that candidates will have credentials appropriate for an appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor (tenure pathway) at the University of Vermont.
