The Department of Pediatrics, University at Buffalo (UB), Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, and Oishei Children’s Hospital (OCH) is actively recruiting a physician-scientist to lead our Division of Infectious Diseases. The candidate will hold a faculty position as a Clinical Associate or Full Professor. They will work as Medical Director to improve pediatric services and programs provided at OCH, including, but not limited to program development, quality improvement, and patient satisfaction. This individual should have leadership experience and be engaged in an active extramurally funded research program. They will also work as an attending physician to provide high-quality, on-site professional diagnosis and treatment services to pediatric patients, and be available for inpatient pediatric consultations. Leadership responsibilities include:
- Work with leadership to advance novel research programs, clinical alignments and revenue opportunities.
- Set and achieve yearly goals to support the Department of Pediatrics, OCH, and Kaleida Health strategic initiatives, and mission and vision including but not limited to quality and safety; patient engagement; utilization; growth and stewardship and branding.
- Support divisional participation in the Department of Pediatrics and OCH’s Family Centered Care initiative (partnership between health care providers and families to meet the needs of our patients).
- Direct or co-direct the ACGME approved Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship and teach UB medical students, residents, and fellows.
- Assure that the activities of the division meet accreditation requirements of applicable agencies.
- Participate in Department of Pediatrics Division Chiefs and Department of Pediatrics Faculty meetings.
Clinical responsibilities include:
- Conduct clinic sessions during regular business hours (Monday through Friday, excluding holidays), as per clinic schedule mutually agreed to by the Department of Pediatrics, our healthcare partners and physician
- Be responsible for the oversight of the assigned medical students, residents and fellows.
- Ensure medical services provided contribute to favorable health care outcomes
- Complete and maintain certifications and licensures.
Research responsibilities include:
- Maintain an active research portfolio supported by external, peer-reviewed funding.
- Provide scholarship and mentorship to pediatric ID fellows, UB medical students, and undergraduates.
- Participate in departmental research initiatives such as the mentoring program, proposals review process and regular scientific talks.
- Regularly attend national conferences to promote research accomplishments.
