Open postdoctoral research position to examine retrovirus pathogenesis using in vivo and in vitro models. In our group we are trying to delineate the role of various cellular host genes and how they impact retrovirus pathogenesis by integrating both tissue culture techniques and animal models. We are also interested in examining the function and role of the HIV accessory proteins (Vpu, Vpr, Vif, Vpx and Nef) and host genes on retrovirus pathogenesis in vivo. We are currently funded to examine the role of host restriction factors on retrovirus infection utilizing molecular biology, cell biology and next-gen sequencing techniques.
Our lab is a member of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the Jacobs School of Medicine of SUNY, University at Buffalo, and is located at the Downtown campus in the heart of the city of Buffalo, NY.
Successful candidate will perform/design and analyze in vivo and in vitro experiments using retroviruses. Candidate will mentor others in the lab and work in a collaborative manner. The candidate should be able to present their data clearly in various platforms.
