The Department of Pediatrics, University at Buffalo (UB), Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, and Oishei Children’s Hospital of Buffalo (OCH) is actively recruiting candidates for the position of Division Chief of General Pediatrics. This faculty position will provide dynamic leadership to the physicians and staff focusing on building a comprehensive care model that provides outcome-based and population-based proactive care for all children throughout the community. The Division has 16 Pediatricians and 4 Nurse Practitioners who staff two urban-based primary care clinics, several school-based health clinics, and the newborn nursery at Oishei Children's Hospital and Millard Fillmore Suburban hospital. The division provides much of the core training for the pediatric residency program and the medical student pediatric clerkships, seeing over 23,000 patient visits annually combined between the ambulatory clinics and the nurseries. The Chief participates in direct patient care and teaching residents, playing a key role in determining the best model for inpatient and outpatient teaching in keeping with ACGME competencies and LCME regulations. The main responsibilities of the Division Chief will be to:
- Oversee the day-to-day management of divisional activities as well as the financial oversight of its operations,
- Supervise the clinical care and teaching provided at the two principal clinic sites,
- Promote the development of the research mission,
- Maintain positive relationships with community pediatricians.
UBMD Pediatrics is one of 18 practice plans within UBMD Physicians’ Group, the single largest medical group in Western New York. We provide premier health care to infants, children, adolescents and adults. In addition to primary care pediatrics, we have 17 pediatric subspecialties.
