We are currently seeking applications from accomplished academic leaders for the role of Head of School, School of Medical Sciences in the new Faculty of Medicine and Health. The Faculty of Medicine and Health commenced operations in April 2018 and this role will be an exciting opportunity to lead change in a rapidly evolving, integrated, healthcare environment.
This role provides an opportunity to lead a large school in the newly created Faculty. Dedicated to basic biomedical research, the School encompasses pathology; pharmacology; physiology; anatomy and histology; human biochemistry; genomics; human microbiology and bioengineering.
The University is seeking an individual with an eminent track record of research in basic biomedical science combined with a demonstrated history of leadership and change management in a research-intensive environment. The role offers the scope to promote and develop a research vision and strategy for medical sciences, including attracting high quality researchers. The position calls for a builder who can lead a research intensification agenda while also balancing the requirement for the School to provide high levels of service teaching.
You will be adept at balancing strategic vision with management rigour in order to ensure that the school uses its
full capacity to address the major health challenges of the 21st century.
Term and remuneration
The initial appointment will be for five years with an opportunity for renewal subject to assessment of performance. There will also be an underlying reversionary position at either Professor or Associate Professor level in the school. The successful candidates will be offered an attractive remuneration package, and will hold the academic title of Professor or Associate Professor.
