The University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC), Department of Neurosurgery, is conducting a search for a Functional Neurosurgery Bioengineer with research and primary clinical responsibilities at UNMC and Nebraska Medicine, in Omaha, NE.
The Functional Neurosurgery Bioengineer (FNB) has the primary responsibility for the development and implementation of the technology support for the neurosurgical interventions of the Functional Neurosurgery Service. This support includes the services of the following: Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) and Movement Disorders Program, Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) and Surgical Epilepsy Program, Neuro-Oncology Functional Cortical Mapping Program, and Functional MRI Neuroimaging Program. Additionally, the FNB will participate in research program development for the Functional Neurosurgery Service
Successful applicant will possess a Ph.D. in neurobiology, computational neuroscience, bioengineering, or related field; have a strong computational background with computer programming proficiency (Python and MATLAB required); strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred: Experience in functional MRI acquisition and post-processing; experience in neurophysiology, including analysis of real data such as microelectrode recordings, analysis of spike and local field potential data.
