Dr. Tutino in the
Department of Neurosurgery at the University at Buffalo (UB) invites candidates to apply for a
Post-Doctoral Researcher position. We are particularly looking for candidates who can operate effectively in a team environment and in a diverse community of students and faculty and share our vision of helping all constituents reach their full potential.
The department is interested in candidates whose research and expertise overlap with aspects of cerebral vascular pathology, imaging and biomedical engineering including but not limited to: image analysis, image-based computational modeling, AI-driven risk prediction for a wide array of disease states (i.e. intracranial aneurysm, ischemic stroke, arteriovenous malformation, tumor).
Some responsibilities and duties of this position include but are not limited to:
- Manage collection of de-identified medical images of patients with stroke, aneurysm, and brain tumor. Images include digital subtraction, CTA, and MRI.
- Perform image analysis and deep learning to study stroke and aneurysm pathology.
- Research and develop statistical learning models for data analysis.
- Implement the developed statistical models on medical image databases to discover patterns that can help understanding the difference between disease states.
- Publish the findings in computational and medical journals.
- Supervise students in the lab.
The successful candidate will be expected to assist in the maintenance of an active research program. Successful candidates will be expected to collaborate with scientists, engineers and clinicians in a multidisciplinary research environment spanning all schools of the university as well as the Gates Vascular Institute (GVI), The Jacobs Institute (JI), the New York State Center for Excellence in Bioinformatics & Life Sciences and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.
