Position purpose
A Level B academic is expected to make contributions to the teaching effort of the university and to carry out activities to maintain and develop her/his scholarly, research and/or professional activities relevant to the profession or discipline.
The Lecturer (Practice) is expected to contribute to the training of postgraduate students undertaking a Master of Clinical Psychology, primarily through teaching and clinical supervision, including oversight of internships in the Department. This includes an external focus on developing and maintaining partnerships with placement providers. The incumbent will support students’ progress in professional practice and their professional readiness within the clinical psychology course prior to, during and post placement.
Reporting line: The position reports to Director of Clinical Psychology

Key responsibilities
- Contribute to curriculum development, innovation, enhancement and quality assurance in the postgraduate units
- Deliver innovative and excellent teaching, learning and assessment experiences for postgraduate students, including pre-placement workshops, monitoring the effectiveness of the placement experiences and ensuring students demonstrate required competencies
- Conduct original research, developing an active record of publication and starting to build a profile of grants and supervision
- Participate in collaborations with other universities and with government, industry and/or civil society to drive research impact and educational excellence
- Support the management of education, research and/or administration in the School through, for example, participation in committees
- Coordinate internship placements for Master of Clinical Psychology students
- Develop, manage and deepen relationships with partners/ partner sites that have been identified as key placement partners
- Orient partner placement sites and supervisors to the supervision requirements which best support student learning during placement, and facilitate professional learning opportunities for partners as required
- Supervision of students undertaking practicum and internship
- Contribute to Department’s education research strategy, especially in relation to clinical psychology education
- Support the management of education and/or administration in the Department through, for example, participation in committees and attending marketing events.
Key selection criteria
Education/Qualifications
- A Postgraduate qualification in clinical psychology
- Demonstrated ability to teach in a university environment
- Demonstrated ability to work with partners in universities, government and/or civil society
- Demonstrated skills and experience in collaboration and teamwork
- Registered with the Malaysian Society for Clinical Psychology
- Highly developed clinical psychology skills
