Doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent) in Neurobiology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology or closely related field completed prior to start of employment.
Experience in several of the relevant areas of research, such as biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, immunostaining or confocal microscopy.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Postdoctoral Associate will work with a Principal Investigator in the Department of Anesthesiology. The incumbent will conduct independent research under the guidance and mentorship of the Principle Investigator. The research PIs in the department have areas of focus that include mechanisms of pain, mechanisms of neurodegeneration, other areas of neurobiology, and Cancer biology. The Postdoctoral Associate will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately performed following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University.
- Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct research experiments that fit within the research scope of the individual Principle Investigator.
- Collect and analyze data, maintain scholarly knowledge in the research area, and utilize and develop specialized skills in data analysis.
- Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. May also assist in grant writing
- Assist the PI's research team with lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies as needed.
- Other duties may include attending Scientific Conferences and Meetings

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding.
