The Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Minnesota is seeking regionally trained anesthesiologists to join our established Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Service. This position will start as Assistant Professor on the Academic Track.
Academic faculty will be active in their national organizations and foster an academic environment for medical students, residents and faculty. Candidates must have demonstrated ability in teaching and in scholarly productivity in one or more specialty areas in anesthesiology.
About the Department:
The Department of Anesthesiology is driven to eliminate pain, improve patient outcomes and train the next generation of anesthesiologists. Our department cultivates a culture of inquiry, where best medical practices are determined through clinical and scientific methods as well as translational investigation.
About the Division:
Our Regional Anesthesia Division provides care to patients in both the inpatient and outpatient surgery settings. It is comprised of ten physicians providing innovative treatments for acute perioperative pain. Each site has a dedicated team of anesthesiologists, fellows, residents, nurse practitioners, and medical assistants working together to provide regional anesthesia to over 6,000 patients a year.
Our vision is to not only minimize patients’ pain but to minimize their use of opioids in the perioperative setting. We utilize multimodal analgesia techniques including both single shot and continuous block techniques of the upper and lower extremities as well as trunk.
