Position: Neuroanesthesia Fellow
Location: Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, NY
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Neuroanesthesia Fellow at the Montefiore Medical Center, Moses Campus. The Neuroanesthesia Fellowship is a one-year, post-graduate training program designed to provide comprehensive training in the field of neuroanesthesia, including the perioperative management of patients undergoing neurosurgical procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Provide anesthesia care to patients undergoing various neurosurgical procedures, including intracranial and spinal surgeries, neuroendovascular procedures, and interventional neuroradiology procedures.
- Collaborate with neurosurgeons, interventional neuroradiologists, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement appropriate anesthetic plans for complex neurosurgical cases.
- Manage intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring, including somatosensory evoked potentials (SSEPs), motor evoked potentials (MEPs), and electroencephalography (EEG) monitoring.
- Administer and manage a variety of anesthesia techniques, including general anesthesia, regional anesthesia, and monitored anesthesia care, tailored to the specific needs of neurosurgical patients.
- Monitor and manage perioperative hemodynamics, fluid balance, and other physiological parameters to ensure patient safety and optimize outcomes.
- Participate in the education and training of residents, medical students, and other healthcare professionals in the field of neuroanesthesia.
- Engage in research activities related to neuroanesthesia and contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in departmental and institutional activities, including conferences, meetings, and other academic and administrative responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited medical school and completion of USMLE Steps 1-3
- Successful completion of a residency in anesthesiology
- Valid H1 Visa if foreign medical graduate
- Strong interest in neuroanesthesia and a commitment to excellence in patient care, education, and research.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex patients and perform advanced anesthesia techniques.
- Ability to obtain and maintain medical licensure in the state/province/country of practice.
