Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the academic-clinician track (non-tenure).
This individual will serve as the Assistant Director of the Infectious Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (IDDL). The position will be based within the Division of Laboratory Medicine at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Responsibilities will include assisting the director in oversight of the IDDL, clinical test interpretation, and quality control. The successful candidate will play a large role in teaching of microbiology fellows, residents, and medical and graduate students. Strong preference will be given to applicants with a track record and focused interest in innovation and molecular test development.
Applicants must have an M.D. and/or Ph.D. degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in both education and clinical care. M.D. applicants must be 1) board certified in Clinical Pathology (AP/CP or CP) or Pediatrics and Infectious Disease; and 2) have board certification/eligibility in Medical Microbiology through the American Board of Pathology or the American Board of Medical Microbiology (ABMM). M.D. applicants must additionally be eligible for a medical license in the state of Pennsylvania. Ph.D., applicants must be board eligible or certified by the ABMM.
