The Department of Pediatrics, University at Buffalo (UB), Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and the Roswell Park Oishei Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Program are recruiting for the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. We are looking to identify individuals interested in a clinician-educator or clinical scholar career with a primary focus on caring for children with non-malignant blood disorders, especially but not limited to hemophilia and other disorders of hemostasis.

The candidate's primary responsibility will be based at Western New York Bloodcare, previously known as the Hemophilia Center of Western New York (HCWNY), with academic and clinical time also at the Roswell Park Oishei Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Program. Clinical responsibilities will be the care of infants, children and adolescents with hematologic and oncologic disorders, with a specific focus in providing medical care for those with hemophilia, bleeding disorders and thrombotic conditions. Academic responsibilities are to include supervision and education of junior faculty, fellows, residents and students. An interest in clinical, quality improvement/quality assurance, translational or basic science research is preferred.

Western New York Bloodcare is a federally designated hemophilia treatment center providing care for children and adults with hemophilia, other bleeding disorders and thrombotic conditions and belongs to New England Region of the Collaborative Regional Network of Hemophilia Treatment Centers. Western New York Bloodcare is now located in a newly opened center on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, which includes outpatient clinical facilities, administrative offices, a physical therapy suite and the Hemostasis & Thrombosis Lab of Western New York.

The new recruit would join a vibrant and growing program consisting of 11 other full-time faculty members with well-established clinical, clinical research, and laboratory programs fully developed to cover a broad range of relevant areas within pediatric hematology and oncology. The program provides hematology and oncology services at Oishei Children's Hospital of Buffalo (OCH), a free-standing children's hospital part of Kaleida Health and is the dedicated pediatric referral center for Buffalo & Western New York. Our faculty also direct the pediatric oncology and stem cell transplantation programs at the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center; a world-renowned state-of-the-art cancer care and research center. A brand new Oishei Children's Hospital on the Buffalo-Niagara Medical Campus opened in 2017. Both OCH and Roswell Park serve as collaborative teaching hospitals for the University at Buffalo. The division has an active ACGME accredited fellowship program in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. A newly approved (non-accredited) Rosemary “Penny” Holmberg Hemostasis & Thrombosis Clinical Fellowship program has been established at Western New York Bloodcare, in collaboration with University at Buffalo and Roswell Park.
