Job summary: The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking candidates for the position of Director, Center for Health Disparities and the Allen Johnson Endowed Chair in General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics. The mission of the Center is to foster an environment of collaborative research to improve understanding of the many factors that perpetuate health care disparities including race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomics and geography, and to develop and evaluate interventions to eliminate those disparities and improve care for all. Candidates with an MD or DO degree at the associate professor or professor level in general internal medicine, geriatrics or palliative care and an established history of successful funded research in disparities or a related field are encouraged to apply.
The division section on Health Systems Research and Policy includes physicians and social scientists with methodologic experience in health services research, biostatistics, epidemiology, and health economics. The division has a HRSA-sponsored faculty development fellowship which collaborates closely with the Department of Public Health Sciences and the South Carolina Translational Research (CTSA) and content expertise in health literacy, health promotion and behavior change, community health, health disparities, aging, human factors and informatics.
