Consecutive Term Assistant or Associate Professor,
Includes .15 FTE as Assistant Director of Clinical Education

The University of Oklahoma College of Allied Health Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at the Schusterman Campus in Tulsa, Oklahoma invites applications from physical therapists with an earned post-professional doctorate to apply for one of two 12 month, full-time, consecutive-term, faculty appointments in our innovative and expanding Physical Therapy program.

The OU Physical Therapy program has a 66-year history of attracting students from around the country through excellence in education and research. Our program at OU-Tulsa enjoys the richness of collaboration with multiple disciplines across two campuses: the OU Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City and the University of Oklahoma in Norman. Specifically, the Tulsa campus has collaborative opportunities with eight colleges and professions including Community Medicine, Social Work, Nursing, Education, Public Health, Architecture, and Engineering. Unique to physical therapy academia, the OU Physical Therapy program shares an interprofessional curriculum with occupational therapy, an innovation not duplicated in any other PT program in the United States. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • Physical Therapist with an earned post-professional doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DSc) or a Physical Therapist with a DPT who is presently enrolled in a post-professional doctoral degree program with completion by 2025. Consideration may be offered to an applicant who has a DPT degree and already possess an ABPTS specialization and will enroll in a post-professional doctoral degree program within one (1) year of hire with completion by 2025.
  • Candidate must be licensed in Oklahoma or meet all eligibility requirements for immediate Oklahoma Licensure.
  • Candidate must have at least three years of current clinical experience. Preference will be for those with neurological rehabilitation practice, followed by areas of geriatric or acute care practice.
  • Candidate must have at least two years’ experience as a clinical instructor.
  • The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty and clinicians from other OUHSC disciplines contributing to the interprofessional

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • Teaching experience in an academic or clinical setting.
  • Experience with distance technology and learning management platforms.
  • Contemporary knowledge and experience with neurorehabilitation, geriatrics, or acute care.
  • Record of involvement with professional associations.
  • Evidence of scholarly contributions to the profession (i.e. presentations and/or publications at local, state or national levels).
  • Openness to new technology.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills through engagement and reflection.
  • Evidence of innovative solutions in practice and/or community engagement.
  • Contemporary knowledge with orthopedics and/or general medicine.
  • Record of involvement with professional associations.
  • Evidence of scholarly contributions to the profession (i.e. presentations and/or publications at local, state or national level).
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite programs and openness to new technology.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills through engagement and reflection.
  • Evidence of innovative solutions in practice or community.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supports the growth of the physical therapy program through teaching, service, scholarship, and community engagement activities.
