The Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine, Middletown Campus opened its doors on July 21, 2014. It’s housed in the former Horton Hospital building, which underwent a $25 million renovation to become a 21st century medical school campus – complete with state-of-the-art classrooms, clinical training facilities, medical simulation Lab, and student dorm rooms. TouroCOM faculty use an innovative "flipped" classroom approach to deliver the curriculum and students in the human anatomy lab learn through a combination of classical cadaver dissection, the study of plastinated models, and a custom designed holographic 3-D anatomy system.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine (TouroCOM) is looking for an osteopathic physician with experience in medical education to teach first, second and third year medical students in a discipline based curriculum on the Middletown, NY campus.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The OMM faculty position specifically involves collaborating with faculty on the Harlem campus in the development, organization and delivery of the first, second and third year OMM course presented simultaneously on both campuses. Although a commitment to excellence in teaching is the primary responsibility of the position, faculty members also serve on the administrative committees of the college and are expected to already have, or to develop scholarly activity that results in peer-reviewed publications.

REQUIREMENTS
Education, Preparation, and Training
Applicants must possess a D.O. or M.D. degree. The successful candidate will demonstrate the potential for exceptional teaching at the medical school or graduate level in the areas mentioned in the job responsibilities section, have experience designing OMM instructional materials, demonstrate potential for basic science research, and work well with the rest of faculty team. Preference will be given to those applicants board-certified in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine/Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine or with a certificate of special proficiency in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (C-SPOMM).

Skills
The ideal candidate will be proficient in the following areas: Relevant content expertise, research techniques, instructional design, delivery and assessment, course management, psychometrics/statistics, learning theory, public speaking, effective communication, conflict management.

Computer Skills
Basic computer skills supporting the proficient use of the Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and Excel, as well as software used to prepare and administer written exams electronically and experience with Learning Management Systems.

Travel
Infrequent travel to the branch campus location in Manhattan, NY. Travel to professional academic conferences, as approved by the Department Chair.
