WESTERN RESEARCH CHAIR IN MUSCULOSKELETAL HEALTH

Position Profile:
Western University in London, Ontario, Canada seeks applicants for a Western Research Chair in Musculoskeletal Health. Applicants who can demonstrate outstanding ability to lead research in imaging, biological or biomedical aspects of bone and joint diseases are preferred. However, outstanding researchers in any field relevant to musculoskeletal health are encouraged to apply.

The Chair will join a transdisciplinary network of collaborative researchers in Western University’s Bone and Joint Institute (http://boneandjoint.uwo.ca) and will supervise graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and/or clinician-scientists in training in its Collaborative Training Program in Musculoskeletal Health Research (https://cmhr.uwo.ca). The position will commence September 1, 2019 or as negotiated.

Qualifications:
We invite applications from outstanding investigators holding an MD, MD/PhD, PhD, or equivalent advanced degree. Applicants must have an outstanding record of peer-reviewed publications, research funding, supervision of trainees, and leadership of research teams and be internationally recognized expert in research relevant to musculoskeletal health.

A successful candidate holding an M.D. or M.D./PhD will be appointed at the rank of Associate Professor/MD in a limited term (Clinical Academic) appointment or at the rank of Associate or Full Professor in a continuing (Clinical Academic) appointment, depending on qualifications and experience in the appropriate Department with the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. The successful candidate will be eligible for licensure in the Province of Ontario in accordance with the appropriate licensing body and must be certified, or eligible for certification as member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

A successful candidate holding a PhD or equivalent advanced degree in a relevant field will be appointed at the rank of Associate Professor in a probationary (tenure-track) appointment or at the rank of Associate or Full Professor in a tenured appointment, depending on qualifications and experience.

Compensation Details:
Compensation for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. PhD candidates will receive an academic salary from Western University. Clinical Academic candidate’s compensation will be primarily composed of the following sources: Academic salary; and for Clinical Academics, additional sources of compensation can include fee for service (OHIP billings; and Alternative Funding Plan).
