Postdoctoral Fellow Position

The Bacchetta Laboratory has an opening for a highly motivated, self-driven postdoctoral fellow with a background in immunology. The successful candidate will join the Division of Pediatric Stem Cell Transplantation and Regenerative Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine.

The translational research project investigates the potential clinical application of genome editing of FOXP3 to correct pathogenic IPEX patients, HSCs and T cells. Mutation of FOXP3 is causative for IPEX syndrome, an early onset and otherwise lethal X-linked immunodeficiency with autoimmunity. The experimental plan will be human immunology focused with in vitro and in vivo experiments using humanized mouse models. The study will be a unique opportunity to investigate human T cell development and to answer basic human immunology questions while assessing key issues for safety and efficacy of Genome editing for gene therapy purposes. The approach is highly innovative and could lead to new standard of care for immunogenic immune diseases.

This project has the potential for highly informative and very productive findings in terms of publication and innovative clinical implications.

Required Qualifications:
The selected postdoc candidate will have a PhD or MD/PhD in which s/he has gained knowledge in immunology, gene manipulation technologies and basic concepts of translational medicine. The candidate should have demonstrated ability to work independently, self-initiative, attention to details, be dedicated, and self-motivated with a strong aptitude for team work.

Required Application Materials:

  • An updated CV
  • Complete contact information for three references
  • A cover letter describing their past research experience
  • Career goal and a statement of future research interest (1-2 pages)
  • Send to Dr. Rosa Bacchetta at: rosab@stanford.edu and/or Teya Muftic at: teya@stanford.edu
