The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, located in Springfield, Illinois, is recruiting a qualified, self-motivated professional to fill the Assistant to the Chair of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology vacancy. The Assistant to the Chair of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is responsible for the administrative functions for the Department under the direction of the Department Chair.
The Assistant to the Chair will provide support to the Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology with the responsibility for the oversight of the administrative operations of the Department, including both clinical and academic operations. This position encompasses all facets of the Departmental operations, including the areas of clinical operations management, recruitment and retention of faculty and staff personnel, budget forecasting and management of operating results, contract management, advising and assisting the Chairman, the Division Chiefs and Departmental faculty, as well as, conducting the daily administrative activities of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
Candidates for the position of Assistant Chair must have a Master’s degree in Health Services Administration, Business Administration or a related field. In addition, a minimum of three to five years of professionally-related experience in Healthcare Administration is required. The ideal candidate must possess excellent organizational, communication and management skills. Preferred candidates will have highly developed skills in quantitative analysis and decision making, as well as, a thorough knowledge of the principles and techniques of business and health administration.
