The PA Program at Saint Louis University is housed in the Department of Clinical Health Sciences within the Doisy College of Health Sciences. The SLU Program officially began in 1971 and has maintained a rich tradition of providing its students a rigorous education, delivered in the spirit of Cura Personalis. The Program graduated its first cohort of PA students in 1973 and has also maintained continuous ARC-PA accreditation since this time. The PA Program is accepting applications for two faculty positions. These positions are for non-tenure track, 12 month 0.8 FTE assistant professor principal faculty appointments in the Physician Assistant (PA) Program within the Clinical Health Sciences Department.
Duties and Responsibilities
This principal faculty member will report to the PA Program Director and will actively participate in Phase I (didactic) and Phase II (clinical) coursework and activities, with opportunities for leadership development within the Program.
As a fulltime university faculty member, the successful candidate will be involved in PA student instruction and advising/counseling, faculty development, scholarly activity, and service to the University, the community, and the profession. Ideally, this person will continue work in clinical practice 4-8 hours each week. As a principal faculty member of the PA Program, the candidate will participate in admissions activities, student remediation, academic/professional progressions, didactic and clinical curricular activities and assessment, and ongoing program assessment.
The successful candidate will have a professional alignment with the Mission of the University and PA Program, and have excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
NCCPA certification and eligibility for PA licensure in Missouri or Illinois required
Master's degree required
At least three years of clinical experience required
Doctoral degree preferred
Academic or clinical health-related teaching/scholarship preferred
