PhD Research Faculty Position

The MetroHealth System (MHS) and Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) invite applications for a non-tenure track PhD Scientist faculty position at the Professor level in the Department of Orthopedics, to begin no later than January, 2021. Strong applicants from all areas are encouraged to apply.
The MHS includes a 450-bed mission-driven essential academic medical center, a certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, a Level I Trauma Center and a federally designated Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Model System Center. The Department of Orthopedics has a strong collaborative relationship with The MetroHealth Rehabilitation Institute (MRI), which includes a 67-bed free-standing, CARF accredited rehabilitation hospital organized into distinct units for brain injury, stroke and SCI.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities: This is a 0.5 FTE position. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leadership, extramural funding, and peer-reviewed publications; and a strong background in the development and implementation of sophisticated, implantable or minimally invasive technologies that interface with the neurological system. The successful candidate is expected to design and implement the translational pathway for implantable technologies that restore motor function among persons with central nervous system paralysis from concept development to commercialization and clinical implementation. The successful candidate will also contribute to leadership and mentorship within the Department of Orthopedics and the MetroHealth Rehabilitation Institute.
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have an earned doctorate in a relevant field, preferable in biomedical engineering.
Salary will be commensurate with experience and academic rank.
