Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seek a full-time non-tenure-eligible Team Scientist at the rank of Assistant Professor. Responsibilities include collaborative research, and, when appropriate, pursuing extramural funding to support research on the molecular epidemiology of cancer, environmental and social risk factors for cancer, and cancer health disparities. Faculty will hold full faculty privileges, are eligible for promotion, and will collaborate with cancer population faculty members on grant applications, scientific publications, and conducting funded projects, as well as mentor students/fellows, and are encouraged to submit grants as PI or Co-I. Both independent and collaborative research are valued.
Qualified candidates will hold a doctoral degree (PhD and/or MD) in cancer or social epidemiology, or a related field. Strong candidates will have demonstrable expertise and original research in epidemiology, population science, translational research, and/or social disparities, in particular in underserved populations, as demonstrated by publications in peer-reviewed journals and collaborative experience with clinical or laboratory-based scientists, and active funded projects. Preference will be given to applicants who have experience in obtaining NIH or foundation funding, and experience in collaborative research in cancer disparities, as well as expertise in one or more of the following: cancer health disparities, social or environmental risk factors for cancer, epigenetic studies in cancer, longitudinal methods in cancer research, biomarkers of cancer and aging, and cancer epidemiology in underserved populations.
The Feinberg Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention provides a unique, intellectually vibrant scientific home for researchers who study mechanisms of cancer and how to develop, implement and evaluate interventions to improve cancer epidemiology. Robust collaborations between the Chicago and Evanston campuses and the surrounding community support a full spectrum of basic science, translational research, and implementation science. Faculty access rich research resources including the Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center and Northwestern Medicine Healthcare System.
