The Department of Neurosurgery, Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (JSMBS), University at Buffalo (UB) is seeking a board-certified/board eligible pediatric neurosurgery who completed a fellowship in Pediatric Neurosurgery to join our Pediatric Neurosurgery Team. The position is available for 2024/2025 as a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. Responsibilities will include:
- Providing clinical services to pediatric neurosurgical patients and occasionally adult patients with congenital neurosurgical conditions. The candidate must feel comfortable providing a full range of services for craniofacial deformities, brain tumors, epilepsy, congenital anomalies, vascular disorders, functional disorders and all other neurosurgical conditions afflicting children.
- Participation in pediatric only on-call coverage will include coverage of pediatric neurosurgical emergencies at the Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center at John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital.
- Active participation in resident education through supervision in the clinical setting and operating room, academic curriculum development and mentorship. Other activities include participation in medical student education, research and scholarship.

Our pediatric facility is housed within the John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital in downtown Buffalo. Newly opened in 2017 the facility spans 12 stories with a helipad at the top. There are 185 inpatient beds, 64 NICU (largest in western New York), 20 PICU beds, 11 Hematology/Oncology Beds, 12 Epilepsy Monitoring beds, 15 Operating Rooms and an Emergency Department that includes 19 ER rooms, 5 kids express rooms and 4 trauma rooms. It is the only free standing children’s hospital in New York State and an ACS verified Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center with nearly all subspecialty representation.
