NEUROBIOLOGY AND PHARMACOLOGY OF RAPID ACTING ANTIDEPRESSANTS: POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP
The Gould lab is currently seeking a highly-motivated postdoctoral fellow to join a dynamic research project studying the neurobiology and pharmacology of novel, rapid-acting antidepressant drugs, including ketamine (see Nature, 2016 May 4;533(7604):481-6).

Our laboratory employs preclinical approaches to study the neurobiology of mood disorders and therapeutic mechanisms, in addition to developing novel treatments (see www.gouldlab.org). These include a broad range of techniques, from the use of classical pharmacology, transgenic mice, behavioral pharmacology and electrophysiology, to cutting edge technologies such as optogenetics, chemogenetics, and in vivo fiber photometry. Preferred candidates will have some experience in, or strong desire to learn these techniques, with strong writing and communication skills (proficiency in English is essential). As a member of the lab, the fellow will be expected to work towards developing an independent career: playing a lead role in the design and execution of projects, writing publications and presenting data and results. Salary will be based on experience. Interested applicants with a PhD in neuroscience, pharmacology, or related disciplines should send a CV, statement of research interests and the names of 2-3 references to: Dr. Todd Gould, Departments of Psychiatry, Pharmacology, and Anatomy and Neurobiology, at the University Maryland School of Medicine, via e-mail: gouldlab@me.com.

Requirements: Strong writing and communication skills as well as proficiency in English are essential. PhD in neuroscience, pharmacology, or related discipline.
