Our University The California University of Science and Medicine was founded to help overcome the health disparities experienced by the diverse populations of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties in southern California. The Inland Empire is a medically underserved area ranking in the lower half of all counties in California for physicians per capita. The university strives to recruit students who are from the area and will serve this area upon graduation. The building contains numerous labs, lecture halls, faculty offices, student areas, and an Info Commons space for mostly digital access to references and resources. The California University of Science and Medicine has achieved full accreditation status with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
The Department of Medical Education The Department offers a Masters degree in Biomedical Sciences as well as a Doctor of Medicine degree. There are 60 students per year in the Masters program and 130 students per year in the MD program. The faculty consists of basic science and clinical instructors, with nearly all of those instructors having terminal degrees. The basic science faculty, clinicians, and students are engaged in research and scholarly activities.
Position Purpose California University of Science and Medicine (CUSM) seeks a faculty member to serve as faculty in the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program and the Master of Biomedical Sciences (MBS) program. The faculty member will teach basic science courses, with a particular focus on pathology as well as serve as a member of the pre-clinical teaching faculty in the MD and MBS programs, facilitating small group learning, advising medical students, and contributing to the university through service and scholarly activities. This is a non-tenure track position; the academic rank will be determined by qualifications and experience. The successful applicant will be student-centered with a passion for teaching, scholarship, and service, and will have experience in clinical pathology and/or pathology teaching at a university, graduate school, or medical school.
Additional Information Applicants should be qualified to teach in one or more content areas across our systems-based curriculum, have experience in online instruction, and have active teaching and learning experience in a variety of modalities. If the applicant is clinically active, there may be an opportunity to provide clinical services at our affiliate hospitals. Evidence of scholarship and mentoring, with a strong record of collaboration, publication, and productivity, is also preferred.
