The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston Texas is seeking a Board Eligible or Board Certified Child Abuse Pediatrician. The position includes both teaching, clinical, and administrative leadership responsibilities. The program interfaces closely with Galveston County Children’s Protective Services personnel, staff at the Galveston Children’s Advocacy Center, Law Enforcement personnel and the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office. The CAP provides formal consultation to regional CPS Staff in the East Texas Region and provides training for CPS staff in that 19-county area. Pediatric residents rotate through the service as part of their required assignments. The CAP consults on cases admitted to the UTMB hospital service and to the Shriners Burn Hospital, both located within walking distance. There is outstanding support from related Radiology, Genetics, Endocrinology and Toxicology Services.
UTMB Pediatrics staffs 3 Primary Care Clinics, one located in one of the most rapidly growing population centers in the United States, south of Houston. Recently we have initiated a clinic devoted exclusively to meeting needs of the foster care population.
