The University of Kentucky Department of Family & Community Medicine (DFCM) is seeking a qualified family physician to join our Lexington-based clinic. Faculty physicians will practice non-surgical obstetrics, and oversee prenatal care and deliveries for residents’ continuity patients at the, UK HealthCare Good Samaritan Hospital. Our Lexington faculty assist in the education of the residents in our Family Medicine Residency Program (6/6/6) in both an outpatient and inpatient setting, as well as participate in all four years of medical student education, including a required clerkship in Family Medicine. DFCM has additional primary care practices in Georgetown, Hazard, and Hindman, including an independent rural residency program (4/4/4) in Hazard, Kentucky.

With several clinics in the state, we serve as leaders at UK HealthCare, a $4 billion health system, in its primary care delivery strategy by implementing value-based clinical redesign and population medicine programs. We have aligned our clinical approach to enhance value-based quality measures through pre-visit planning, comprehensive nurse assessment, and a UK HealthCare Population Health team involving social workers, community health workers, and RN care managers. We are a national leader in transitional care management and its impact on unnecessary hospital readmissions. Our department’s clinical volume includes over 100,000 annual visits and over 2,500 hospital discharges across our 5 current clinics and 2 hospital services.

These activities, in addition to departmental leadership in population medicine, practice-based research network, and academic programs, afford opportunities for faculty to participate in a variety of innovative programs. We offer competitive compensation based on rank and experience and an excellent benefits package that includes health, dental and life insurance; disability and malpractice insurance; a generous retirement plan; continuing education; paid time off and more.

The review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Rank and compensation are commensurate with experience. Please include cover letter and CV along with application
