The Lipids Laboratory (LIM 10), University of São Paulo Medical School, São Paulo, SP, Brazil, offers post-doctorate fellowship in Lipid Metabolism

The scholarship is linked to the development of the project entitled "Advanced glycation end products, endoplasmic reticulum stress and modulation of cholesterol reverse transport in human arteries with different degrees of atherosclerosis," carried out under the FAPESP Thematic Project Program "Unraveling mechanisms of glycemic control and chronic complications of diabetes mellitus: contributions to human health" process 2016 / 15603-0).

The objective of this PD project is to uncover mechanisms that contribute to the development of cardiovascular disease in diabetes mellitus, with particular attention to the role of advanced glycation end products and the expression/content of proteins involved in lipid homeostasis in human atherosclerotic lesions in different stages of evolution.

Those interested should have previous experience in the area of Lipoprotein Metabolism and be qualified to develop research focusing on the macrovascular complications of diabetes mellitus, with emphasis on advanced glycation end products, endoplasmic reticulum stress, HDL metabolism and removal of cell lipids. They should be qualified and capable of developing research involving molecular biology techniques, immunohistochemistry in human arteries, quantification of advanced glycation end products, RNA and DNA extraction, quantitative PCR, and knowledge of data analysis tools. The candidate must have a record of publications in high-quality journals.

Candidates must have MD or PhD in Health Sciences with a focus on Physiology and Metabolism. The selected scholar will develop the work in São Paulo, Capital.

Candidates should send updated short CV letter of presentation indicating the reason for interest in the scholarship, with a brief report of their experience, and two letters of reference to Marisa Passarelli, one of the principal researchers of the project, at m.passarelli@fm .usp.br

Those selected will receive FAPESP Post-Doctorate scholarship in the amount of R $ 7,174.80 per month and technical reserve. The Technical Reserve of the PD grant is equivalent to 15% of the annual value of the scholarship and is intended to meet unforeseen expenses directly related to the research activity.

If the fellow resides in a different home and needs to move to the city where the research institution is located, he/she may be entitled to a grant-installation. The registration deadline is November 30, 2017.
