The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a full-time pediatric critical care physician. Academic rank is based on qualifications and experience. Qualified candidates will have completed a pediatric critical care fellowship program, be board certified in Pediatrics and BC/BE in Pediatric Critical Care. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to clinical care and teaching.
UTMB, established in 1891, is comprised of 4 schools and 3 institutes. The Medical School enrolls 230 students per class; 1 in 6 Texas physicians have trained at UTMB. The UTMB Pediatric Residency program currently has 36 positions, 12 in each year. The Department of Pediatrics has 70 faculty, and all medical and surgical specialties are well represented. Currently the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit has four critical care beds and four step down beds. However, construction of new pediatric inpatient facilities is underway in the John Sealy Hospital at UTMB, and when completed, will contain an 8 bed PICU with 4 step-down beds.
We are particularly interested in candidates who desire working in a smaller pediatric critical care environment and who have a particular interest in providing clinical supervision and teaching to residents and students.
