The College of Medicine and Health Sciences (UAE University) invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor/Professor of Bioinformatics and Health Data Science. We are seeking a dedicated and forward-thinking individual to join our esteemed faculty and contribute to the dynamic field of Bioinformatics and Health Data Science. As an Assistant/Associate Professor/Professor, you will be a key player in advancing our academic mission through teaching, research, and professional services. The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in Bioinformatics and Health Data Science, with expertise in areas such as AI, Big Data Analytics, and Machine Learning, particularly in the context of genetics and genomics. Responsibilities: 1. Teaching: o Design and deliver courses covering Python programming for life sciences, Bioinformatics, and Data Science (AI, Big Data, and Machine Learning) in healthcare and public health. o Engage students through innovative and practical approaches to foster a deep understanding of complex concepts. 2. Research and Projects: o Lead and collaborate on research projects in Bioinformatics and Health Data Science, with a focus on Big Data Analytics, AI, and Machine Learning for genetics and genomics. o lead metagenomic and statistical analyses of data sets derived from Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data. o Initiation/implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of analysis software o Contribute to the scholarly community through impactful conference/seminar/congress/etc in AI, Big Data, Machine Learning, and Bioinformatics. 3. Supervision: o Mentor and supervise postgraduate students (master's and Ph.D.) in areas such as Health Data Science (AI, Big Data, Machine Learning) and Bioinformatics for genetics and genomics. o Provide guidance and support to ensure the success of research endeavors. 4. Publication: o Publish research findings in high-impact journals, specifically in AI, Big Data, Machine Learning, and Bioinformatics for genetics and genomics. o Disseminate research outcomes at conferences/workshops/media to contribute to the academic community and society. 5. Academic Programs and Course Design: o Contribute to the development and enhancement of academic programs, especially in the areas of Bioinformatics and Health Data Science. o Play a role in designing and refining courses to align with government needs, industry trends, and technological advancements. 6. Laboratory Management: o Manage the Health Data Science laboratory, ensuring a conducive environment for cutting-edge research and student engagement.
a Ph.D. or Doctorate in disciplines such as Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Health Informatics, Data Science, Computer Science, IT, or a closely related field
• Demonstrated expertise in teaching and research in Bioinformatics and Health Data Science.
• Strong background in AI, Big Data Analytics, and Machine Learning, particularly in the context of genetics and genomics “NexGen data and metagenomic analyses”.
• Proven track record of research productivity and publication in reputable journals.
• Demonstrated expertise in teaching and research in Bioinformatics and Health Data Science.

• Broad knowledge of biology, especially genetics.
• Experience with large genomic data sets (Next-generation sequence, genotyping, or expression data), data mining, and data analysis.
• Initiation/implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of bioinformatics software.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
