The Department of Surgery at the University at Buffalo is recruiting a chief of Thoracic Surgery that will closely collaborate with Trauma, General and Vascular Surgery teams. The incumbent will develop and implement the Division’s strategic plan, in collaboration with the Chair, which sets forth clinical, financial, educational and research divisional objectives to support and complement the mission statement of the Department of Surgery, the State University of New York and Buffalo, the Jacobs’ School of Medicine and the affiliated Hospitals.
The candidate will be expected to establish the Division of Thoracic Surgery as surgical leaders on a local and national level, and continue to acquire the medical, financial, and research resources to achieve this objective. Significant resources for the establishment of a research program are available. The candidate will be expected to conduct research on current high impact topics, participate in all divisional activities, perform patient care activities, develop an independent practice and become involved in teaching medical students, residents and fellows. The candidate will be expected to integrate clinical quality, research, and education programs in thoracic surgery across all participating hospitals.
