The Department of Neurology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA is seeking an outstanding Neurologist for the Neuromuscular Division at UCLA.

UCLA Neurology is recruiting an adult Neurologist with subspecialty training in neuromuscle diseases for a full time clinician/educator position. This individual has the potential to work in three to four different clinics at UCLA, including pediatric and adult muscle clinics, ALS clinic, EMG as well as general neuromuscular clinics, depending on interest. These clinics are also staffed by other Neuromuscle Neurology faculty, and this new faculty will work as part of a team. In addition to an outpatient adult neuromuscle clinic, this faculty position will be active in the Center for Duchene Muscular Dystrophy (CDMD) and MDA clinic, which a very active and multidisciplinary experience at UCLA. In this clinic, the individual will coordinate care within a multidisciplinary team of physicians (neurologist, cardiologist, orthopedist, endocrinologist, pediatrician, geneticist, pulmonologist), staffed by a nurse coordinator, social worker, physical therapist, respiratory therapist, orthotist, DME specialist and dietician to provide comprehensive care for young children, teens and adults with muscular dystrophy. There are substantial opportunities for translational scientific or clinical trial work with Center members and in other aspects of Neuromuscle Program in UCLA Neurology. In the ALS clinic, the individual will work with a team consisting of neurologists, respiratory therapist, physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech pathologist and social worker.

The position involves teaching of neuromuscular fellows as well as residents rotating through the clinics. Other teaching opportunities include case-based and didactic teaching to medical students and residents.

The successful candidate must have an MD and be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Neurology and Neuromuscular Diseases or Clinical Neurophysiology. The candidate should have expertise in the clinical care of those with neuromuscular disorders and must demonstrate excellent communication skills.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant or Associate level will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
