The Department of Pediatrics, University at Buffalo (UB), Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo is actively recruiting a full-time faculty physician in the Division of Genetics. The successful applicant will be an academic physician who will exhibit a balanced commitment of clinical care, education and clinical or bench research. The candidate will hold a medical degree and be board-eligible/certified in Medical Genetics.
The Division of Genetics runs an active outpatient metabolism, dysmorphology and genetic counseling program, while supporting the inpatient units, the Maternal Fetal Center and multidisciplinary clinics at Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo (WCHOB). The division has three BC MDs, one BC PhD, one RD, one clinical study coordinator and two BC genetic counselors.
This year’s relocation of WCHOB, renamed the John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital, and the UB School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences to the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus will promote strong interactions with the Clinical and Translational Research Center (CTRC), the Institute for Healthcare Informatics and the New York State Center of Excellence for Bioinformatics and Life Sciences – including the Buffalo Institute for Genomics and Data Analytics, Center for Computational Research and Hunter James Kelly Research Institute. The Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo has recently received the CTSA award and is building a new downtown medical school on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus scheduled to open fall 2017. This multidisciplinary clinical environment will provide better access to higher-quality care, including innovations in preventative medicine, and will support critical research programs.
