Postdoctoral Fellow – Cardiac Regeneration and Tissue Engineering
St. Boniface Hospital Research Centre/University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada
A full time postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Sanjiv Dhingra in the Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology and the Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Regenerative Medicine Program at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada.
Dhingra lab focuses on allogeneic stem cells and biomaterials based cardiac regeneration and repair following a damage due to myocardial infarction. Using rodent models, patients’ samples, and allogeneic mesenchymal stem cells, hiPS cells, and mouse ES cells, Dhingra lab seeks to understand the molecular mechanisms of transplanted stem cell rejection in the heart. Our goal is to prevent rejection and prolong survival of transplanted stem cells in the heart. Additional research areas include iPS cells based modelling of inborn diseases, conductive polymers, hydrogels/scaffolds for cardiac tissue regeneration. More details can be found here: http://www.sbrc.ca/dhingra/
Qualifications: Recent PhD or MD/PhD degree and strong record of publications. Ideal candidate should have working experience in some or all of the following areas: 1) Animal models of cardiac disease; 2) Stem cell biology and transplantation to the heart; 3) Cardiac function analysis by echocardiography; 4) Biomaterials (hydrogels/scaffolds) synthesis and characterization; 5) Molecular biology/genome editing techniques; 6) Transcriptomics/proteomics.
Interested candidates should submit their CV with the names of three referees to Dr. Sanjiv Dhingra (firstname.lastname@example.org). The position is open immediately until filled.
