A position is available for a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). We are looking for a highly motivated individual interested in studying cellular cardiac electrophysiology using whole cell, patch clamp techniques. This is an NIH funded position. Current projects include studies investigating the effects of the autonomic nervous system and antiarrhythmic agents on the electrical properties of cardiac myocytes. Qualified individuals must be willing to work with a team of collaborators, including those at UNR and the University of California Davis, who are using a variety of experimental and computational approaches to investigate cellular, subcellular, and molecular mechanisms involved in the generation and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in physiology, pharmacology, biophysics, or related field. Excellent English language skills (both written and oral). Patch clamp experience preferred.

Salary is commensurate with experience. Health and retirement benefits included.

The Department of Pharmacology is in the School of Medicine on the UNR campus. It is home to a small, but well-funded and highly interactive group of researchers with state-of-the-art facilities.

Reno, NV is located on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. It is driving distance from Lake Tahoe, Yosemite National Park, and San Francisco, which offers many unique recreational and cultural opportunities.

Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest briefly describing their research experience and career goals, a current CV, and names and contact information of three references.
